Volume selection is achieved by sliding and locking the graduated barrel into any of the five preset volume stops, a design feature which eliminates errors and ensures consistent, repetitive delivery of samples. Because the plunger draws the sample into a precision glass capillary tube, there is no dead volume which is why the volume to be dispensed will always be the same regardless of viscosity. The plunger tip is of PTFE; therefore, sample integrity is guaranteed. Economically priced replacement plungers are available which can be discarded after use with radioactive solutions. Also, the movement of the plunger completely removes any residue from the capillary which allows it to be reused with other fluids. For replacement pipettor tips, see the P7480 series.
