Horse serum, Donor Equine Serum, Heat Inactivated, US Origin, 500 mL. Equine serum is ideal for use as cell culture medium and in veterinary biologics. Equine serum can be a cost-effective alternative to fetal bovine serum and can be used as cell culture medium in a variety of applications. Raw material is sourced from audited suppliers of closed donor herds that are carefully controlled and inspected by veterinarians. Horses are regularly tested for equine infectious anemia using Coggins tests. Before collection, donor horses are fasted to ensure lower lipid levels. RMBIO manufactures heat inactivated equine serum by raising the temperature of the serum to 56°C in a water bath and strictly maintaining the condition for 30 minutes. Heat inactivation is an industry standard treatment that helps protect against growth inhibiting immune factors like serum complement that may be present in the serum. Serum complement can have undesirable impacts on immunological endpoints like detection of neutralizing antibodies, or on the proliferation of viruses. All lots of equine serum are 0.2um sterile filtered, feature low hemoglobin levels, are 9CFR tested, and are manufactured at our GMP compliant and FDA registered facility. Product should be stored at ± -10° C.
