DMEM-009: DMEM/F-12 Ham 1:1 Mixture 1X, with L-glutamine, with HEPES, without Sodium Bicarbonate, 1L. F-12 Nutrient Mixture (Ham’s F-12) is a serum-free medium that relies on a combination of nutrient supplements, growth factors, and hormones to culture cells. During the past decade, researchers have reported successful culture of Leydig cells and Sertoli cells in serum-free medium that contained insulin, transferrin, epidermal growth factor (EGF), leutinizing hormone or follicle stimulating hormone, somatomedin and growth hormone. A 1:1 mixture of Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium (DMEM) and Ham’s F-12 Nutrient Mixture was found to be most satisfactory for studies of this type. DME-BBZ-01L-009 contains 365 mg/L L-glutamine and 15mM HEPES to compensate for the loss of buffering capacity incurred by eliminating serum. DME-BBZ-01L-009 does not contain sodium bicarbonate. The liquid medium should be stored at 2-8°C and stay away from direct sunlight.
