General description
CPME is a greener alternative solvent for many aprotic ether solvents. It has many properties which make it safer and greener alternative:
• High boiling point
• Clean organic-water phase separation
• Reduced energy to recover
It also is safer for use, with a lower peroxide formation than either THF or 2-MeTHF.
Application
Greener alternative solvent in reactions containing the following reagents:
• Alkali agents
• Lewis acid-mediated reactions
• Organometallic
• Reduction and Oxidation
• Transition metal catalysts
• Azeotropic water removal
Can also be used in extraction, polymerization, crystallization and surface coatings.
